Ask about each part of the visit separately
If you want a companion at a gentle dentist appointment downtown, ask which parts they can attend. Checking in together, joining a discussion and staying in the treatment room are separate arrangements. You might want them beside you for the opening conversation and then waiting nearby during the examination. Ask where they should wait and how the team can bring them back if you want help hearing the follow-up instructions.
Say what can be discussed while they are there
Decide before you arrive which information you are comfortable sharing in front of your companion. You can ask to discuss medical history, fees or a particular concern privately, then invite them back for the next part. Tell the team what role you want them to play. For example, “I want to answer the questions myself. Could my companion take notes when we discuss the next visit?” If you change your mind during the appointment, tell the team.
Plan the handoff between waiting and joining
Ask how your companion will know when to come in or where to meet you afterward. If the office says room access depends on the procedure or available space, agree on a second arrangement before the visit. They can wait at the agreed location while you ask the team for a written summary you can review together later. If you expect them to help you get home, ask what timing or travel instructions apply to your appointment.
Use the Downtown Toronto map to pick a meeting point
Use the map above to check the neighbourhood, then confirm the street entrance, suite and elevator directly with the office. If you are coming from different directions, name one meeting point and time. Decide what you will each do if one person is delayed so the appointment can begin with the conversation you want.
